How connected do Americans feel to their neighbors? This Pew Research Center publication shares Americans’ views of their neighbors, including whether they know and trust the people in their neighborhood and how similar they are to them demographically and politically. The research also looks at whether people are likely to do things for their neighbors that could strengthen community ties and whether they believe their neighbors would do the same for them.

Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes, and trends shaping America and the world. We conduct public opinion polling, demographic research, content analysis, and other data-driven social science research. We do not take policy positions.
